HYBRID PROGRAM: DIGITAL WORKSHOP + VISIT GFS

February 4, 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11; Thursdays, 6 sessions

Designed for adults 55+, this six-session workshop will combine self-guided visits to GFS and online instruction to help you explore the profound role of color in our world. Knowing how to use color to say what we want to say in our creative work can be much more elusive. This class is devoted to exploring color theory, playfully, through mixed media – paint, paper, sculpture and textile. Discover how to analyze color, experiment with limited and prismatic palettes, and understand color values through a wide range of simple to more complex activities – from color in nature, to bold geometric design, to the ‘soft turning of form’ in the more classical tradition. This class is appropriate for all artists and skill levels.

Instructor: Callie Lasch studied graphic design at the School of Visual Arts, NYC and art history at the Sorbonne, Paris. More recently, she turned to the classical study of drawing, painting and sculpture of figurative work in the atelier tradition, under Jon deMartin, Dan Thompson, Alyssa Monks, and Steven Assael. Callie is also the Founder and Co-Director of The Institute for Therapeutic Craft & Creativity, an online educational resource dedicated to developing greater awareness of the biological and neurological benefits of the hand-brain connection and the creative making process to whole person health and wellness.
