During this drop-in, participatory program, viewers are invited to sketch freely without concern for outcome during this performance of traditional Odissi repertoire. Odissi is one of India’s neoclassical dance forms. Embodied memory, how we can be transformed, transported, polished, filed down, reactivated, and reduced when we are invited to remember what has been forgotten is considered. This collaborative gathering blurs the lines between performer and viewer. The visual work generated will provide maps and pathways for the movement of the culminating sharing on the weekend of November 23rd.
anamnesis is an Artist in Residence project with interdisciplinary artist donia salem hahoor, which considers the thought-provoking exhibition, Interference Fringe | TALLUR L.N., through the complicated lens of memory. Throughout the month of November, visitors are invited to consider both recollection and erasure of the personal, collective, cultural, and historic through a series of participatory programs. The series will culminate in a public sharing of movement and story that draws from the inquiries and discoveries made over the course of the residency.
