IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please review our Student Group Visit Reminders and the Introduction to GFS Slideshow on your own and with your students before your visit.
Make Your Own Lantern
Light up the room with a handmade lantern! Build a small lantern using popsicle sticks and different colored papers.
Clay Animals
In this workshop, students will learn about texture, form, and building processes to create their own critters out of clay. Connections will be made to sculptures on the grounds that depict animals and other creatures, which students can use as inspiration for their own pieces.
Casting Hands
Use plaster to make a cast of your hands. Explore the variations in movement that can be captured using this medium. View and discuss works on the grounds that depict bodies in motion!
Paint-A-Pot
Decorate your own terracotta pot by painting it with spring-inspired designs. Then, plant a handful of flower seeds, take them home, and watch them grow! Students will discuss the relationship many artists explore between the environment and art.
Sculpted Figures
Students will shape and sculpt a small body, head, or mask using strips of plaster bandage. This session will explore ways to represent the human form and different figures through sculpture. Students will tour the grounds to see sculptures that depict people in obvious and subtle ways.
PK–12 groups are permitted to carry unopened bagged lunches with them on the grounds to enjoy at designated eating areas. Student group eating areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the case of inclement weather, please note that we cannot guarantee an available eating area inside. In such cases, groups may be asked to eat lunch on the bus.
