Orchids are one of the more beautiful and captivating plants you can grow in your own home. In this workshop you will learn what an orchid is, how they grow in their natural habitat, how orchids differ from the average houseplant and what this means for how we care for them in our homes. Participants will learn all the basic requirements needed to successfully grow and re-bloom their orchids. The workshop concludes with a hands-on re-potting activity and the opportunity to take your newly re-potted orchid home with you!

Instructor: Cat Swiderski, Horticulture Assistant, joined the horticulture team at Grounds for Sculpture after completing the horticulture internship here during the summer of 2021. She is currently a second-year student in the Ornamental Horticulture program at Mercer County Community College. Her primary horticultural interests include public gardening, plant propagation, and nursery management. A long-time orchid enthusiast, Cat has been growing orchids for over a decade and is a member of the Central Jersey Orchid Society and the American Orchid Society. She believes orchids are for everyone and is passionate about helping others to become successful orchid growers.
