Born in Washington, PA in 1911, Rosati began his career in the arts as a musician—he played violin in the Pittsburgh String Symphony from 1928-29. He became interested in sculpture upon visiting the Carnegie Institute Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. Rosati taught at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and The Cooper Union in New York City. In 1964, he became Professor of Sculpture at the Yale School of Fine Art. One of Rosati’s sculptures,” Ideogram”, was commissioned in 1974 for the plaza between the former World Trade Center towers—the work was lost on 9/11. Rosati was also on the jury panel for the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial competition. He died in New York in 1988.
