Member Trip to Washington, D.C.

Join us for an autumn day-trip to the nation’s capital! Enjoy a guided tour at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, a leading voice for contemporary art and culture providing a national platform for the art and artists of our time. Then, explore the Smithsonian’s newest museum, the National Museum of African American History & Culture, the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. Member Mornings

Enjoy a quiet start to your day and catch the morning light at GFS. At GFS, we believe visiting an oasis of beauty, where art and imaginatively landscaped gardens awaken the senses, enhances well-being, and stimulates reflection.

On Member Mornings, Members are granted early access to the garden and galleries at 8 AM on the final Sunday of months April through November. No reservations required. Present your membership card and valid ID at check-in with Guest Services.

Members may use Anytime Passes to bring additional friends and family.

Member Trip to the 2019 Philadelphia Flower Show

Join us for an unforgettable day of beauty on this day-trip to the 2019 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation's largest and longest-running horticultural event.

This year’s theme, Flower Power, will highlight the stunning influence and impact flowers can have on our daily lives.

Marvel at the power flowers have in our happiness, memories and communities. Witness one of the world’s most prestigious floral design competitions, FTD World Cup, featuring breathtaking creations by the world’s top floral designers representing 23 countries. Explore the Flower Show at your leisure.

Enjoy lunch onsite at the Show or a wide variety of options right across the street at Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s largest and oldest public markets.

Price is $85 and includes coach transportation, refreshments on bus, and admission.

Nearby Toronto is often forgotten when thinking of great art getaway cities, but with its vibrant neighborhoods, international character and burgeoning arts scene, Canada’s largest city is a must-see destination for art lovers. Join GFS on an insider’s tour of Toronto’s cultural wonders, with highlights including the Art Gallery of Ontario, the new Aga Khan Museum, and the sculpture collection of York University. Exclusive art access is a major feature of the tour – from a private visit to the studio of artist James Carl, whose work will also exhibit at GFS in 2018, to the chance to view an outstanding private contemporary art collection not open to the public. Throughout the tour, we will also meet fascinating locals – historians, sculptors, designers and art collectors – who will share their Toronto with us. Join us for an autumn day-trip to Washington, D.C.! First, visit the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the only major museum in the world solely dedicated to recognizing women’s creative contributions. Enjoy a private tour of the new exhibition, Magnetic Fields: Expanding American Abstraction, 1960s to Today, which explores the formal and historical dialogue on abstraction among African American women artists. Later, explore the Smithsonian’s newest museum, the National Museum of African American History & Culture, the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. Join us for a day-trip to Old Westbury Gardens in New York, boasting 200 acres of formal gardens and landscaped grounds, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Enjoy guided tours of the early 20th century estate Westbury House and Gardens, and explore Seward Johnson at Old Westbury Gardens, a special exhibition of 38 works by Seward Johnson. Members Trip: Philadelphia Magic GardensJoin us for a GFS Members-only day trip to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, a visionary art environment created by Isaiah Zagar using nontraditional materials such as folk art statues, found objects, colorful glass bottles, handmade tiles and thousands of glittering mirrors.

Enjoy a guided tour and artist talk with Isaiah Zagar, and explore the immersive outdoor art installation and indoor galleries. This members-only trip is open to current and new GFS members. Celebrate the genius of American art on this journey to Northwest Arkansas and Missouri, unexpectedly dynamic corners of the American heartland. In Bentonville, Arkansas spend two nights at the renowned 21c Museum Hotel, recently named the #10 Top Hotel in the South by Condé Nast Traveler, as well as the #1 Hot New Hotel in the U.S. by TripAdvisor. Spend a full day exploring Alice Walton’s world-class Crystal Bridges Museum, designed by Moshe Safdie and spanning centuries of American masterworks.

In conjunction with the upcoming GFS exhibition Boaz Vaadia: Sculpture, join us for this special Members-only day trip to Vaadia’s studio in Brooklyn. Enjoy a 3-course lunch with sculptor Boaz Vaadia and Tom Moran, GFS Chief Curator & Artistic Director, in the popular Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn before continuing to a private tour at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Join us on this day visit to this exceptional art and garden venue in New York. Wave Hill is a 28-acre public garden and cultural center in the Bronx with breath-taking views overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades.
