Develop wood working skills in this six-session workshop, strengthening wood carving techniques and self-expression. Participants will learn to transform raw wood into expressive sculptures. Deconstruction, material usage, qualitative carving will all be explored throughout. No prior experience necessary. All required tools and materials will be provided.
Instructor: Mike Gyampo was born and educated in Ghana, West Africa. He obtained a BA with honors in Sculpture from College of Art, University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He also has an MA (part 1) in African Visual Arts, Musicology and Traditional African Religion from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana. He worked at the Arts Council of Ghana, The National Museum in Accra, and as a set designer for Ghana Television.
