Experience the rhythm, movement, and energy of the changing season with Casual Fifth, a Philadelphia-based taiko and dance ensemble known for blending traditional Japanese drumming with contemporary movement and interdisciplinary performance. Inspired in part by the spirit of Mid-Autumn Festivals celebrated across many Asian cultures, this special event honors themes of harvest, reflection, gratitude, and community gathering.
Throughout the evening, guests will encounter a series of immersive mini performances scattered across Grounds For Sculpture, transforming the landscape into a living stage filled with sound, motion, and surprise. As you wander the grounds, discover powerful taiko drumming, expressive modern dance, and collaborative pieces that explore the connection between nature, seasonal transition, and shared cultural traditions.
The performances invite moments of reflection, excitement, and discovery while encouraging visitors to experience the gardens and sculptures in a new way. The evening will culminate in a final gathering performance that brings all of the artists together in a vibrant celebration of autumn, rhythm, and community connection.
