First class: October 26

Second class: November 2

Artist Clifford Ward will take participants to another level of creating vessels. Through his technique of using plaster bandages, participants will create their own vessel in this two-part series, then explore ways to apply these techniques with their students. Experience how he uses line, color, and shape to create works of art that feel futuristic; then, tour Cliff’s studio and get a sneak peek at works in his upcoming exhibition that will be shown at GFS in 2025. Skills learned can be applied to coursework for K-12 students, and certification of completion will be provided.

Instructor: Clifford Ward had several other careers before pursuing his art full-time. When the company he worked for went out of business, Ward channeled his energy into creating art, which had always been an outlet for him. Ward apprenticed at the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture from 1997-1998 and then became a staff member. Later, he became a member of technical teaching staff in metal chasing. Ward’s sculpture Jubilant Dancer is a part of the permanent collection at GFS. In addition to being a full-time artist, Ward teaches art to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities at the Center for Creative Works in Wynnewood, PA. His studio is located at GFS where he has worked for over 30 years. He teaches many workshops, creates sculptures, paintings and enhances clothing with his art. His primary medium is plaster bandage.
