Join us for a GFS Member Meet-up at Art@Bainbridge to view the exhibition Roberto Lugo / Orange and Black and learn more about the artwork together.
Roberto Lugo is an artist, ceramist, social activist, poet, educator, and friend of GFS. Many GFS members will recall Roberto Lugo’s exhibition at GFS in 2022, Roberto Lugo: The Village Potter. GFS acquired Lugo’s 20-foot vessel Put Yourself in the Picture in 2023, which is installed outdoors on our 42-acre campus.
Roberto Lugo / Orange and Black, currently on view at Princeton University Art Museum’s Art@Bainbridge, features vases that draw on the shapes, techniques, and decorative motifs of ancient Greek vases in order to tell personal and communal stories of contemporary social and political oppression. Shown alongside Lugo’s vases are a selection of ancient Greek vessels from the collections of the Princeton University Art Museum that inspired him, creating a temporal, visual, and social juxtaposition between the ancient and contemporary vessels.
This meet-up is open to current and new GFS members. Pre-registration is required as the exhibition gallery has limited space. Members are responsible for their own transportation to and from Art@Bainbridge.
