Instructor: Sarah Wise – Trauma Therapist and Ceramic Artist

Sarah graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2004. When she started a graduate program in the field of Taosit Five Element Acupuncture, part of her training was working at a drug detox clinic in Baltimore, MD. After training she went to China to work at an all-acupuncture hospital and in 2013 was a Research Acupuncturist for the Samueli Institute where she worked on a project with veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury. To gain more skills and understanding of trauma, she started a program with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute to learn Somatic Experiencing (SE)-a therapy that focuses on moving individuals through trauma. Sarah works with veterans in group settings at the DCVA Medical center in Washington, DC. With 12 years of professional experience, she continues her private practice in Reston, VA and is currently a ceramic Resident Artist at the Workhouse Center for the Arts in Lorton, VA.
