HYBRID PROGRAM: DIGITAL WORKSHOP + VISIT GFS.
This six week hybrid course will combine self-guided visits to GFS and online instruction to explore both traditional and experimental media, mark making tools, and observing our natural environment to inform the art we create. Working from live specimens, participants will learn to understand and render the shapes and forms of plants and flowers using an array of guided techniques. Embracing one’s own inherent style of seeing and rendering will be highly encouraged.
Instructor: Erin Ellis is an award-winning lettering artist and illustrator from New Jersey who fell in love with drawing plants while living in New Zealand. Erin’s type and illustration work has been commissioned for clients such as Facebook, Pottery Barn, Lululemon, and The Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She has led workshops and exhibited her artwork in Philadelphia, New York, and San Francisco and Oakland, as well as in New Zealand. The bulk of her personal work continues to reference botanical subject matter. erinellis.com
