Discover the local art communities of Hamilton and Trenton, New Jersey at Grounds For Sculpture with an in depth look into their creative practice, technique and histories. This gathering will feature a new artist each month sharing their perspective in conversation with the public. This month, meet with artist Léni Paquet-Morante.

Curated and moderated by Áine Mickey, in partnership with the Seward Johnson Atelier.

BIO
Léni Paquet-Morante was born in Canada and raised in Maryland. Currently, she lives in Mercerville, NJ and has a studio with the Seward Johnson Atelier on the Grounds For Sculpture campus. She studied liberal arts at Palomar College, bronze sculpture processes at The Johnson Atelier, and has a BFA in painting from Mason Gross School of Art.

The artist has exhibited sculpture and paintings in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Paquet-Morante’s most recent solo shows were at Johnson & Johnson Corporate Headquarters, 2019; and Princeton University, 2017. Scheduled for 2022 are solo exhibitions at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center, Deal, NJ; and Yellow Barn Gallery, MD. Paquet-Morante is listed in the Women Artists of America National Directory, and is a member of National Association of Women Artists, and registered with the Canada Arts Council.

Paquet-Morante was awarded a Maryland State Arts Council Artists-in-Education Residency Grant in 1986, the Lacawac Field Sanctuary AIR in 2017, and a Diderot Grant for the Chateau d’Orquevaux AIR in 2019. Her work is included in private and public collections internationally, including publicly and privately commissioned sculpture.
