Cliff Ward
Clifford Ward is an artist working in sculpture and painting from his studio located on the Grounds For Sculpture campus. Clifford has been an active artist on the Grounds for a substantial number of years – teaching, showing and lecturing. Clifford’s art career began after a “career” in educational publishing. He discovered his ability for art during this time and made all the necessary adjustments needed to pursue his career and passion. Having entered the Johnson Atelier Technical Institute of Sculpture, he became proficient in the art of metal casting. He began as an apprentice, one year later he was hired on staff, and then became part of the technical teaching staff in metal chasing. Clifford has had many group and solo exhibitions over the years in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California with the goal to present his work in major museums and galleries. For the past 10 years Clifford has worked for a program called Center for Creative Works in Wynnwood, Pennsylvania, working with adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Currently, Clifford is working on an installation, “Animism,” which consists of twenty-four, large scale figures exploring the theme of Afrofuturism.
