In 1953, Paul Muick earned a BFA from Ohio State University, with a concentration in sculpture. Four years later he received a PhD from the same university. A resident of Virginia, Dr. Muick was a faculty member in the art department at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg from 1964 to his retirement in 1998, then an adjunct professor at North Virginia Community College, Annandale campus in Fairfax, Virginia. To his teaching positions he has brought expertise and knowledge, the foundations of which were acquired from earning advanced degrees in art history and sculpture at Ohio State and the University of Chicago, and from further studies at professional schools and foundries in Germany and Indiana.
While at Mary Washington, Muick was the recipient of faculty development awards, facilitating the execution of several recent works in bronze. He has exhibited on campuses and elsewhere in Virginia and the surrounding region.
