Marion Held was born in New York City, and is currently a resident of Montclair, NJ. Held’s work has been widely exhibited in the United States and abroad and is represented in many public and private collections. She has traveled extensively as an artist in residence in Spain, Senegal, Poland, and Israel where she has created on-site installations, often using local materials. She has been awarded fellowships from NJ State Council on the Arts (sculpture), Chester Springs Studio (Chester Springs, PA), Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (Dodge Foundation Grants), TGD4 International Workshop (Tambacounda, Geneva, Dakar) Senegal, Millay Colony for the Arts (Creative Fellows Award), Fundacion Valparaiso (Mojacar, Spain), and participated twice in the International Biennale, Beer-Sheva, Israel. She has exhibited in solo shows at major museums and galleries, most recently at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NewJersey, and at Medialia Gallery in New York City in 2012.
