David Hostetler work is represented in public collections at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Canton Art Institute in Ohio, and the Speed Museum’s outdoor sculpture garden in Kentucky, as well as in corporate and private collections across the country. He was the author of several books on carving techniques and woodworking. He received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and then one in fine arts from Ohio University. He returned to Ohio, teaching in the art department for thirty-eight years and later honored by being named Professor Emeritus. He spent winters on his farm in Athens, Ohio, and summers on the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts, where he and his wife owned a gallery.
