Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) seeks to be reflective and responsive to the world we live in. The visual arts should amplify varied perspectives, and in turn, inspire conversation, understanding, and change. The restorative power of art and nature offers opportunities for contemplation, reflection, and healing. We believe in providing a safe haven where all feel welcome to unwind with friends and family.

Since opening our doors in 1992, Grounds For Sculpture has served as cultural hub of inspiration, innovation and tranquility for our local community and for visitors worldwide. In 2024, we welcomed over 231,000 guests and provided free access to over 13,000 individuals, primarily through the Families First and ACCESS programs.

We strive to sustain and nurture our current community while expanding our overall visitorship. With this goal in mind, we have developed and put into motion an Action Plan, spanning from 2024 – 2028. This is a living, breathing document and is a driving force for the organization’s collective work.

The Action Plan outlines how GFS will intentionally ensure values and action exist in the everyday staff, visitor, and community experiences. The Plan articulates the places and processes where GFS will work cross-departmentally and organization-wide.

Through the Action Plan, we hope to work towards six outcomes:

  • GFS continues to measurably diversify in all ways
  • Become a hub for community connectivity
  • Expand our role as a responsible and engaged neighbor
  • Sustain a safe and empowered workforce
  • Ensure a safe and accessible visitor experience
  • GFS business practices further align with our values and processes

By engaging in this journey to integrate systems of intentionality into our operational structure, we ensure organizational viability and survival as our communities and the world demands more institutional transparency, collaborative problem solving and refined pathways forward.
