Glenn Zweygardt

1993-94 - stone: Pennsylvania Fox Hill granite; metal: steel, bronze

Font Size: AAA

Glenn Zweygardt is known for his fusion of disparate natural and man-made materials into a cohesive whole and as a result is both ancient and contemporary. This combination of roughly hewn slabs of Pennsylvania Fox Hill granite with machined steel, owes less to the traditional carved stone monolith and more to the accretive quality associated with metal constructions. The massive scale and the pillar-like slabs of stone lend a totemic architectural sensibility to the piece.
