Born 1953, Detroit, MI
Hertzel studied history at the University of Rochester, NY, earning his Bachelor’s degree, before continuing his studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Originally from Detroit, Hertzel called Bucks County, PA home for nearly 20 years, where he and his wife, the painter Linda Guenste, shared a large barn studio. The pair recently relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where Hertzel’s family is counted among some of the early settlers to that area in the early 1800s.
His work has been widely exhibited throughout the region, including exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy, the James A. Michener Art Museum, the Woodmere Museum and the State Museum of Pennsylvania, to name a few.
