Michele Oka Doner’s longstanding interest in nature is at the heart of this exhibition. She explores the elements of ritual and spiritual aspects of air, water, and fire, ritual. Fire will be a key focus of the exhibition with the inclusion of several sculptures central to the theme including ‘Altar II’, 2003, one of Oka Doner’s largest cast bronze works. She wants the viewer to slow down, pause, and take a closer look at the world around them. From her resplendent bronze sculptures to her naturalistic forms assembled in wood and wax, stunning large monoprints, and torched figures, Oka Doner’s works will transform the viewing experience into a sensuous feast of visual discovery and poetic reflection on nature.
