Art Salon with Kang Muxiang

Join us for a very special evening Art Salon with Taiwanese master sculptor Kang Muxiang. Born in 1961 in northern Taiwan’s Miaoli County, Kang began studying woodcarving at the age of 13. Kang’s experience during his 2002 yearlong isolation on Guishan (Turtle Island) off the coast of northeastern Taiwan’s Yilan County motivated him to create his life series of sculptures.  Kang Muxiang’s One Steel Cable Connecting the World featuring sculptures of the ‘Rebirth” series includes six monumental, thoughtful, environmental and powerful embryonic sculptures that were created by using recycled elevator cables from Taipei 101, one of the world’s tallest buildings. “Rebirth” will be on view at Grounds For Sculptures through mid-2020.

Your ticket to this exclusive event includes a champagne welcome toast at Rat’s Restaurant with artist Kang Muxiang, Grounds For Sculpture Executive Director Gary Garrido Schneider and Chief Curator, Tom Moran followed by a tour of “Rebirth.” After the tour you will return to Rat’s for a presentation and discussion with the artist and then enjoy a gourmet three-course meal with complimentary wine. Space is limited, don’t miss this unique opportunity!

Members $85; Non-Members $110

Kang Muxiang’s One Steel Cable Connecting the World featuring sculptures of the ‘Rebirth” series is supported by the Taiwan Land Development Corporation.
