Introduction to Wood Working

Develop wood-working skills in this five-session workshop designed to strengthen techniques and self-expression. Taking inspiration from the Interference Fringe |TALLUR L.N. exhibition, participants will learn to transform raw wood into expressive sculptures. Deconstruction, material usage, and qualitative carving will be explored throughout. No prior experience necessary. All required tools and materials will be provided. Instructor: Mike Gyampo Mike Gyampo was born in Aburi, Ghana in 1950, into a family of educators and artists. A third-generation artist, he obtained a BA with honors in Sculpture from College of Art, University of Science & Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. He also has an MA (part 1) in African Visual Arts, Musicology and Traditional African Religion from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana. He worked at the Arts Council of Ghana, The National Museum in Accra, and as a set designer for Ghana Television. His work can be found in both private and public settings in the US and overseas.

Wellness Walks

Walk the garden, explore wellness topics, and enjoy light fare with friends. This season will focus on anatomical yoga with a different theme each week. This session will center on Hips, Kness & Toes.

Interference Fringe | TALLUR L.N. Spotlight Series

Can artwork give voice to thought? Join local experts in the gallery for a focused look at the exhibition from different fields of the humanities. Museology: Interference Fringe| TALLUR L.N. Associate Curator Ami Mehta looks at the evolution of encounters with art through this innovative exhibition. Ami Mehta is a freelance researcher with a multidisciplinary background that integrates art history, museum studies, literature, and economics. She has developed exhibitions and programming at the Rubin Museum of Art (New York), Fundación Juan March (Madrid), Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), and Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum.

Tots For Sculpture

Take Shape: Cuckoo Configurations Early learners explore materials, make art, and get inspired by GFS’s current exhibitions. Each month features a different theme. All Tots For Sculpture workshops are designed for kids ages 3 to 5 together with their adult caregivers.

Recording Natural Light

With leaves of all shapes and sizes fluttering from the trees, autumn is the perfect time to collect a few favorites and produce a handmade negative. Working with leaves, petals, and stems from our garden and the sun’s ultraviolet rays, compose unique swatches decked with botanical designs.
