Call for Entries! Members' Musings 2018

Submissions will be accepted between July 16th through August 3rd.

Charlize Katzenbach, 'Yellow Wheel'.

An annual exhibition held in the Education Gallery at Grounds For Sculpture, this year’s Members’ Musings is the ninth show featuring artwork exclusively by members of Grounds For Sculpture.  In addition to supporting the arts, many GFS members are gifted artists themselves.  This exhibition showcases the diversity of the organization’s membership through their varied artistic creations and unique inspirations.

The Grounds For Sculpture member exhibition is open to current and new members, whose membership must be valid on August 3, 2018. Members employed by GFS, members who serve on the GFS Board, or members who have work in the collection and/or featured exhibitions are not eligible to participate.

This is a juried exhibition. This year’s juror is Adrienne Neszmelyi-Romano, Director of Interpretation and Innovation at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA, with which she has been associated for over 20 years. She received her Masters in Art Education from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.

Neszmelyi-Romano is a practicing artist with a focus on metalsmithing. Her work is featured in private collections and has been shown at various juried shows and exhibits, including the Wayne Art Center CraftForms. She is a Master Artisan of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman. She has served as a grant panel evaluator for the New Jersey State Arts Council and has served as a juror for various Arts and Crafts Festivals in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

At the Michener, part of Neszmelyi-Romano's role is to work actively with curatorial staff to identify and implement unique participatory experiences in the museum's galleries and also to collaborate with different departments to identify, organize, and create the best uses of technology and new media in exhibitions and collections. She has curated exhibits and interactive spaces to engage the community and foster new audiences.

Members may submit up to two works per person. 2-D, 3-D, and multi-media works will be accepted.

Accepted works will be on display in the Education Gallery from October 26 – December 9, 2018.  Framed works should be no larger than 40 inches in any one direction.  3-D works should not be larger than 30 inches in height, width or depth. This gallery is a family-friendly environment and all work displayed must be suitable for young viewers. Any work that does not meet these requirements will not be eligible for selection.
