Common Threads: GFS Book Club

Join us this winter, and meet fellow book lovers while discovering and discussing an array of thought-provoking reads. This season’s selections are inspired by themes explored in Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths, on view in our Domestic Arts Building, where Book Club programs will also take place.

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
In a series of essays, written as a letter to his son, Ta-Nehisi Coates confronts the notion of race in America and how it has shaped American history, many times at the cost of black bodies and lives. Thoughtfully exploring personal and historical events, from his time at Howard University to the Civil War, the author poignantly asks and attempts to answer difficult questions that plague modern society.

Conversation Moderator: Rob Connor

Rob Connor is Head of School at Trenton’s Christina Seix Academy. He holds a PhD. in Educational Policy and Management from the University of Pennsylvania and is a proud graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
