Great Groundhog Day!

Time: 10am - 2pm.  Free with park admission. ($5 materials fee for workshops).
Join us for Grounds For Sculpture’s Third Annual Groundhog Day celebration!  In addition to musical performances, this day-long event features educational tours of the sculpture park, morning and afternoon Groundhog-inspired workshops, kinetic movement workshops and storytelling (all activities suitable for ages 6-10).  Hot chocolate and cookies are available to those who brave the cold and venture out into the park in search of ART, the Grounds For Sculpture Groundhog!  Workshops are by registration only.

Musical performance at 12:30pm is free with park admission.

Wonders of Winter Photography Workshop

Dates: Thurs, Feb. 4, 11, 18, 25.  Time: 10:30am - 12:30pm.
Investigate the primary elements of composition while learning critiquing skills and in-depth techniques for taking landscape photographs.  An SLR or digital camera is required. Instructor: Sally Davidson.

Gallery Talk: Focus on Sculpture with Andrea Baldeck
Time: 2pm.
Andrea Baldeck, juror for Focus on Sculpture 2010, will discuss the selection process and the works on view in this exhibition.  Space is limited.  RSVP by calling (609) 586-0616.

10th Anniversary Workshop: Seward Johnson
Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm.
In this second workshop in our birthday series, we celebrate Seward Johnson.  As the founder of Grounds For Sculpture, Johnson had a vision to create a sculpture park on the site of the former New Jersey State Fairgrounds.  Explore his artistic background and influences as well as his sculpture and ideas.  Choose an impressionist painting that you admire and imagine what it would look like in 3D by creating a simple maquette.  Instructor: Aylin Green.

Time: 11am & 1pm.  Ages 3-5.  Rain or shine!  Free with park admission.
Listen to a story, become park explorers, and make original works of art.  Bring your toddler to learn about sculpture through interactive activities.  Instructor: Joslyn Johnson.
One adult must accompany each child.  Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Meets at the Visitor's Center.

Sculptural Ceramics Workshop

Dates: Sat., Feb. 27 & March 6, 13, 20, 27 & April 10, 17, 24.  Time10:30am - 1:30pm.
Use the versatile medium of clay to explore and learn techniques that can be used to create small, large and even the most complicated objects. Traditional and experimental methods of working with clay will be introduced, and students may choose a functional or sculptural approach to their work. Classes will start with short creativity-building experiments and throughout the course, students will be encouraged to develop individual ideas. Use of tools, 25 lbs. of clay, glazes and firing are included in the workshop fee. Instructor: Debbie Reichard.

Trenton Area Festival of Electronic Arts

Time: 12 – 6pm.  Evening showcase concert, 6pm.  Rain or shine!
Join us for an exploration of electronic environmental and performance art.  Interact, learn and network f2f (no voltage required) where AV geeks are vanward and hip.  Sights and sounds will stretch the imagination.  Performances, exhibits, and seminars will mark the event along with an e-drum circle and an open Personal Media Player jam.  Bring your favorite music or visual apps and we’ll do our best to plug you in to an impromptu multi-media happening.  Or simply come treat your senses in a space transformed by light paintings, video sculpture, ambient soundscapes and experimental music. 
Price: Afternoon Festival Session: $5 at door.  Evening Showcase Concert: $5 at door.
