10th Anniversary Workshop: Isaac Witkin

Time: 10:30am – 1:30pm
Look for this new series of ten workshops offered in celebration of Grounds For Sculpture’s tenth anniversary as a public non-profit! Each workshop will focus on a different artist in the park and their art-making technique. This first workshop celebrates Isaac Witkin, one of the first sculptors to exhibit at Grounds For Sculpture, who remained a celebrated friend and colleague for years. Learn more about the life and work of this sculptor and make your own abstract wax sculpture using his direct pour method. Instructor: Aylin Green. Price: $45 Members; $50 Non-members. In honor of Grounds For Sculpture's 10th birthday as a non-profit organization, we want to give you a gift!  The tenth person in the park on the 10th of every month will win a Grounds For Sculpture goodie bag worth a retail value of $50!  In addition, both Toad Hall Shop & Gallery and the Museum Shop will offer 10% off on the 10th of the month to patrons and online shoppers on regularly priced merchandise.  Members receive an additional 10% on top of the 10% they already receive!

Tots on Tour!

Time: 11am and 1pm. Ages 3 5. Rain or Shine! Free with park admission.
Listen to a story, become park explorers, and make original works of art. Bring your toddler to learn about sculpture through interactive activities. Instructor: Joslyn Johnson.
One adult must accompany each child. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Meets in the Visitor Center in the Seward Johnson Center for the Arts.

Winter Season 2010 Exhibition Opening

Reception: Sat., January 23, 4pm – 6pm. Members and invited guests only. Visitor Center and Domestic Arts Building closed to the public 3 6pm.
Exhibition: January 24 through April 18.
The annual Focus on Sculpture exhibition is a juried exhibition of amateur photographers on display in the Education Gallery. This year’s distinguished juror, Andrea Baldeck, is a black and white fine-art photographer. Also exhibiting in the Domestic Arts Building is glass artist Flo Perkins, well known for her representations of every day objects in glass. Her originality, sensibility, and imagination have led her to become a well respected artist and innovator in the field of hot glass.

Toad Hall Shop & Gallery Exhibition: "Image and Form"

Exhibition: January 24 through April 18.
Toad Hall Shop & Gallery presents, in Image and Form, the photography of Andrea Baldeck, who explores mountain peaks, far-flung islands, fields and gardens, seeking to entrap the transient through the magic of her photography.  Also on exhibit will be the unique decorative arts of Albert Paley.  Experience how his tremendous craftsmanship translates into everyday living.

Gallery Talk: Life and Work Inspired by New Mexico with Flo Perkins
Time: 2pm.
Flo Perkins will talk about how her work inspired her relocation to New Mexico, and how living there has affected her chosen medium of blown glass.  A discussion of Flo’s work over the last 30 years, as well as pictures of the New Mexico landscape and other significant influences will be shared during this talk.  Space is limited.
