"An Artist's View" Photography
Workshop Dates: Thurs., October 1, 8, 15, 22. Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm. This four- session workshop teaches participants to look at their photographs in a new light and discover the autumn beauty of the sculpture park. An SLR or digital camera is required. The Outlet Dance Project
Time: 2pm. Free with park admission. The Outlet Dance Project incorporates sculptural elements in the park with original choreographed dances. This is a showcase for emerging female choreographers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

Toad Hall Shop & Gallery Opening: Jacobo de la Serna
Reception: Fri., October 9, 5 – 7pm. Open to the public. Toad Hall Shop & Gallery presents the contemporary artwork of Jacobo de la Serna. Exhibition runs from October 10 through January 10, 2010.

Saturday, October 10th
Fall/Winter Exhibition 2009
Both monumental and small scale sculpture by Albert Paley, the first metal sculptor to receive the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Architects, will be on view in the Museum Building. Concurrently, in the Domestic Arts Building, the ceramics of Jacobo de la Serna, first-prize winner for ceramics at the Santa Fe Annual Hispanic Market, will be featured. Also in the Domestic Arts Building, The International Sculpture Center presents the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture annual exhibition. Reception: Sat., October 10, 2 – 5pm. The park will be closed to the public all day. Members and invited guests only. Reservations required.
Exhibition runs October 11 through April 18, 2010.
International Sculpture Center Exhibition runs October 11 through January 10, 2010.

Gallery Talk & Book Signing with Albert Paley
Time: 2pm.
Join artist Albert Paley, featured in the Museum Building during our Fall/Winter Exhibition 2009, as he discusses his techniques and artwork. A book signing and reception will immediately follow. Wednesday, October 14th
Atelier Tour
Time: 5:30pm. Grounds For Sculpture will host a tour of the Johnson Atelier and the Digital Atelier, led by Charles Haude, Executive Director of the Johnson Atelier, and Jon Lash, CEO of the Digital Atelier. Participants will get the inside "scoop" on how sculpture is made and the processes used to create a finshed work of art. Attendees of this tour may enjoy refreshments prior to beginning the tour. To make the night even more special, tour attendees that reserve for dinner at Rat's after the tour, will receive a free appetizer of their choosing with their meal. Tots on Tour!
Time: 11am and 1pm. Ages 3-5. Free with park admission. Rain or Shine!
Listen to a story, become park explorers, and make original works of art. Bring your toddler and have them learn about sculpture through interactive activities. The program takes place on the third Saturday of the month (ends in October). Instructor: Joslyn Johnson.
One adult must accompany each child. No reservations are necessary but space is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Meets in the Visitor’s Center.

Saturday, October 17th
Altered Books
Workshop Dates: Sat., October 17, 24, 31 and November 7 Time: 10:30am – 1:30pm.
Use mixed media techniques such as image transfers, collage, painting and wax to give an old book a new life as a sculptural work of art. Materials will be provided, but you may bring your own special collected items and photos to personalize the project. Instructor: Aylin Green.

Pit-Fired Ceramics
Workshop Dates: Sat., October 17 and Sun., October 18. time: 10:30am – 4:30pm. Create a decorative vessel using the coil technique employed by Fall/Winter Exhibition 2009 artist Jacobo de la Serna. Create and pit-fire your piece using experimental processes. Pit-firing will take place on Saturday, October 31 beginning at 10:30am with a rain date of November 1. Instructor: Debbie Reichard. Oktoberfest
Time: 12 – 4pm. Rain Date: Sat., October 24 Grounds For Sculpture and Rat’s Restaurant are celebrating their own version of Oktoberfest – a first-time-ever event! Listen to the Philadelphia German Brass Band in the Acer Courtyard and munch on classic Munich-style cuisine – but don’t forget about the beer! A wide assortment of foreign and domestic brews will be served to compliment the festivities. Café charges apply.

New Jersey Storytelling Festival
Time: 12-6pm. Rain or shine! Free with park admission. Come and celebrate teh time-honored art of the oral tradition as over 40 tellers present different stories throughout the day. Picnic lunch available.

Saturday, October 24th
Photo Matting
Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm. Bring at least two 4” x 6” prints. Learn about the selection of photographs and the techniques of mounting and matting. Take home your photographs, ready to frame. Instructor: Sally Davidson.

Guild for Early Music
Time: 12 – 5pm. Free with park admission. You are invited to the Fifth Annual Festival of the Guild for Early Music. Featuring music from the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Early American eras performed by regional ensembles. This year’s theme, “In Love and War,” will feature vocal and instrumental ensembles including harpsichord, violas da gamba, recorders, harp, flute, Baroque strings, sackbut, cornetto, percussion, and more. In addition to “Love and War,” themed sculpture tours of the park will be offered.

Friday, October 30th
Masquerade Ball at Rat's Restaurant
Time: 8pm. Ghosts, goblins, witches, bats and rats... lots and lots of rats! With candle lit rooms and an entire staff in costume, Rat’s Restaurant transforms itself for a delightfully eerie evening complete with dancing to a live band. Price is $59 per person (plus tax and gratuity) which includes hors d'œuvres, buffet dinner and dancing. Cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. The festivities begin at 6pm. This year's musical guest is, area favorite, Kindred Spirit. Reservations are required for this event and can not be made online.
