Member Preview Day: Fall 2018/Winter 2019 Exhibition Season

Member Preview Day is an exclusive opening that gives members the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes of the artistic season! GFS Members enjoy special programs, such as artist-led tours and talks, performances, art-making demonstrations, and more.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE

10:30 am – 12 pm          
HortiSculpture Tour
This uniquely designed docent-led tour explores the relationship between the art and landscaping at GFS. Register at Guest Services upon arrival

Meet the Artist: James Carl in his exhibition oof

Meet the Artist: Michael Rees in his exhibition Synthetic Cells

Creative Connections: Drawing
Experiment with dynamic mark-making materials, tools, and techniques with educator and artist Shawn Allen-Dela Rosa in this drop-in workshop.

A Horticulturist’s Favorite Trees
Learn about trees to love in the GFS collection during this walking tour with GFS Horticulturist, Janis Napoli. Tour leaves from Museum Building.

New Sculpture: Harp of David #1
Learn about newly enlarged and installed Harp of David #1 by Dina Wind with Project Coordinator, Sue Dunsmoor. Hear from John Wind, son of Dina Wind, about his mother’s work and legacy.

Cardboard Materials Investigation
In this drop-in workshop, explore pattern, symmetry, and process with Patrick Krzyzanowski, James Carl’s assistant on oof.

Artist Talk
Hear from exhibiting artists James Carl, Michael Rees and Masayuki Koorida, with Tom Moran, GFS Chief Curator.

REAL-TO-REEL at GFS
Drop in to our cozy lounge to preview our upcoming documentary film selections from our exhibition-inspired curated film series, Film for Thought, coming up this winter. And check out a reprise screening of a few of our favorite short films from the 2018 Outlet Dance Project: Dance on Film Festival, a celebration of site-specific dance from around the world.

Moot Davis with Bill Corvino
2018 Courtyard Concert Series artist, and Trenton-based singer-songwriter, Moot Davis returns to GFS in this stripped-down, acoustic engagement – just for Members! Tap your feet and enjoy his Americana inspired songs, edged in good old rock and roll.

SmART Cart   
Search the garden for the GFS SmArt Cart, a mobile station exploring the connections between art and science, sharing info and hands-on experiences related to our artwork and horticulture!

General admission is open to GFS Members only. Members can use Guest Passes to bring friends or family or purchase guest tickets for $18 each.
