MacArthur Fellows in Dialogue: Joyce J. Scott and David Finkel

FULLY BOOKED

Join us for this very special engagement with artist Joyce J. Scott and Pulitzer Prize winning Washington Post National Enterprise Editor and Reporter, David Finkel. Over the last 45 years, Joyce J. Scott has established herself as an innovative artist whose work fuses the autobiographical with the historical and creates powerful opportunities for dialogue on complex and sensitive issues. First, enjoy a private viewing of Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths, the most comprehensive exhibition of Scott’s work to date. Then, during an intimate discussion moderated by Finkel, gain insight into the artist’s lifelong desire to provoke and encourage conversations on topics including racism, classism, slavery, and misogyny through performance and sculpture. Joyce J. Scott and David Finkel are both recipients of the prestigious MacArthur ‘Genius’ award, a program which celebrates individuals who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits.
