Workshops for children are extremely popular at Grounds For Sculpture and include:
- Tots on Tour, designed for early childhood learners age 3-5, meets once per month, year-round. This program is designed and taught by a certified art teacher. The theme and lesson changes once per month. Tots on Tour features a story time, a child-friendly tour of selected sculptures in the park, and hands-on art making. Projects explore various art media, such as painting, printmaking, collage and more!
- Young Artist Workshops serve two age groups, children 6-9 and children 10-14. These workshops complement Grounds For Sculpture’s exhibitions by exploring art media and techniques based upon featured artists. Class size is limited and children have the opportunity to work closely with the artist instructor. Young Artist Workshop spaces fill-up fast!
Workshops for adults are based upon artwork featured in our exhibitions. Workshops range from one-day intensive sessions to classes lasting multiple weeks. Students of all skill levels are invited to participate. Past workshops have included photography, clay monoprints, woodcarving, ceramics, fiber arts, painting, glassblowing, sculpture and more. Grounds For Sculpture is a registered professional development provider with the State of New Jersey, and professional development certificates can be issued for workshop hours upon request.
Workshops for families provide a venue for intergenerational groups to create art together. In these workshops, adults assist children in brainstorming ideas as well as aid with the creation of the artwork. Drop-in family workshops are regularly featured during our special signature events, such as Groundhog Day, A Day at the Fair, Anniversary Arts Party, Summer Social and Lights On. In addition, family workshops take place throughout the year. Please check our calendar page for the most up-to-date schedule of family workshops.
Private group workshops can be arranged for corporations, teachers seeking professional development credits, or other groups. Corporate workshops feature a team-building component as well as hands-on art making. Previous private group workshops have included topics such as found object sculpture and stone sculptures.
