'Unitas'

William King

1991 - metal: platinum

Font Size: AAA

King has been associated with Grounds For Sculpture since its inception and participated in its Inaugural Exhibition held in the summer of 1992. The following spring, the 26-foot tall 'Unitas' was installed on the sculpture pad, projecting a commanding presence through the two equally-sized figures shaking hands. In 1999 Unitas moved to a site next to the Hamilton Rail Station as part of Sculpture Along the Way, Grounds For Sculpture’s continuing public art program. This work’s simple silhouetted shapes and large scale are easy to read and recognize from a moving train or car.
