'Pillars'

Font Size: AAA

'Pillars' is an upright sculpture cast in bronze dating from 1987. Three columnar components merge in the center to form one unit. Abstract in approach, the elongated elements of varying lengths can also be read as anthropomorphic forms. They are rounded at the top and each shape nestles up to the next, the overall composition perhaps alluding to a family unit. Evident in this bronze, as in others by Zinman, is a statement offered through simplicity and directness of line and form. The artist’s intent has been to convey a message in non-literal terms about relationships, aspirations, and other human experiences, while allowing for individual subjective responses from the viewer.
