Born 1954, Philadelphia, PA
Originally from Philadelphia, Jill Sablosky received her BA from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania. Following her studies, Sablosky lived in Pietrsanta, Italy from 1979 to 1982. She continues to travel to Italy, as well as Texas, Conneticut, and her home state of Pennsylvania, using materials from all of these regions in her work. Recent works combine stones quarried in Italy and the United States that vary in texture and color.
Sculptures by this artist have been exhibited at many galleries, art centers, and college campuses in Texas and Pennsylvania. The majority of her works were privately commissioned. In 1994, Sablosky completed a commission for the Redevelopment Authority in Philadelphia. That was followed by A Course in Change, a project awarded by General Services Administration for the Federal Building in San Antonio, Texas. One of her recent outdoor projects, 'Continuum' is sited at the School for Social Work at the University of Pennslvania. She currently resides in Texas.
